This year we have planned to divide the course into two sections. First we are going to use the materials provided CLASS BOOK : ROOFTOPS 5 or 6, twice a week. This year course I'm planning to do phonics once a week with my students. Looking for one specific and clear methodology I've asked one of my friends in Gloria Fuertes (Alzira), Vanessa is teaching Infant education there and she says the method is quite good. Their 3yo students are doing this 80% of the weekly time. It's not my case, but my students are older than hers. So I'm doing some Courses by the CEFIRE and we will see how it works. I have checked how to get better in summer. My students' parents many times have asked me for some tips and educal jarafe is a good reference. Remember that tips: 1- Make the students enjoy learning, through visual or technological supports 2- To enrich their environment, you may visit museums, science exhibitions, etc 3- To place an orderly table and to set a time during the day, preferably morning time. 4- To spend time with other students with the same interests who motivate each other. 5- To make a planning: organisation is important. Try to create a timetable for studying and leisure hours. 6- To stick to the timetable. Today I was looking for some info about ENGLISH workshops for my classes and I found that post about how to use flashcards. As another teacher did it into Spanish I'm not going to translate it, but instead I have copied it and then mention the link. It is an old post but it describes perfectly the basic uses in the EFL classroom. "FLASHCARDS No sé si estáis familiarizados con el uso de flashcards. In this famous video we can reflect on our classes if creativity takes part in our schools or not. It is a very important question specially because we are working with children. So, in my opinion every teacher should have thought it over fully. I show you, my dear reader, that I try every year to improve my classes, my pedagogy and my skills as a teacher. But, Do you know how to start? Well I can help you with the beggining: - Tell other teachers about your intentions and aims, if you show your mind to them may be they collaborate. - Start looking for events or courses where you can keep in touch with people who have the same interests as you. I recommend some on my twitter @PILARtheMOON - Don't give up! Try to mantain yourself positive and share your experiences. Even if you are not right you are improving more than someone who is doing nothing. Let me know about your results. ;-)))

How important is to reflect on our teaching practice? What do I want to change about it? Do I care about my students' interests? Can I use ICT resources at school? This week I took some time to reflect on all this questions which I never did. Sharing my opinion about my job and the teaching practice is important for me. And the idea of following other people with the same interests makes me think that I'm not alone. Well, my list of wishes are: - To introduce more project collaboration methodology in my classes - To coordinate to other departments at school in order to involve them with my own practice - To use much more ICT reources and always explore new ones - To ask my students about their interests and the changes they would make in the english classes In the same line, to analize other E-twinning projects and to see that another world exists is very provocative and proACTIVE. If you want to prepare an easy but suggestive activity for your school on the Valentine's day, here I've got an idea.  You can prepare in large white paper a photocall with the title "I ❤ ENGLISH" and some handmade decorations around. But the most interesting of this game is that you are going to involve the whole school community including parents.  Display the photocall at the hall or in a place where everyone can see it.  Then ask other teachers to advice their students about the schedule for taking photographs, depending on your school timetable and previous organization. Another point is to ask students to wear for a day, that's the 14th February, a T-shirt with a message written in English. It will be very funny to see lots of pictures with your students wearing English language messages and some of them even will have amusing comments.  I will show you mine in the next days!
